More than 1,100 workers at the Epa received notice today that they were deemed to be on probationary status and alerting they could be fired right away, according to an email gotten by CNN.
Probationary employees getting the email have been operating at the agency for less than a year. The e-mails started to head out late on Wednesday afternoon, according to an EPA union authorities.
The same message will be sent out to other workforces, a White House authorities stated. Across the US government, the newest data programs there are more than 220,000 workers on probation.
"As a probationary/trial duration worker, the company deserves to right away terminate you pursuant to 5 CFR § 315.804," the EPA email to probationary staff members reads. "The process for probationary elimination is that you receive a notification of termination, and your employment is ended immediately."
"Each staff member's status will be identified separately," the email adds.
The email likewise spells out an appeals process employees can take to see if they are qualified for employment additional protection.
The method resembles how Elon Musk, now a key Trump adviser, managed layoffs when he purchased Twitter - make a brand-new email alias (in this case, notice@epa.gov) and after that send mass termination letters to everyone on it.
The US Office of Personnel Management decreased to comment, and the White House and EPA did not react to requests for extra remark.
The EPA union authorities said these probationary workers aren't the same as at-will staff members
